Our cosmetic surgery offices in the Baltimore area provide numerous skin care treatment and products. Chesapeake Plastic Surgery Associates is proud offer such a wide range of cosmetic services to improve each patient's self-esteem and rejuvenate the appearance.

Skin Care Consultation

To achieve exceptional skin care, you will first have a full consultation with one of our specialists, which includes a personal lifestyle questionnaire, physical examination, and a computerized photo analysis conducted under six different light sources. Next, your physician-supervised skin care therapist will design a skin care program for your special skin type, problems, and goals.

Skin Care Science and Technology

In dermatologic circles it used to be said in jest, "If it's (the skin) wet, make it dry; if it's dry, make it wet." The knowledge of skin science has come a long way. At Chesapeake Plastic Surgery Associates, the in-depth consultation with one of our Baltimore area skin care specialist is based on these advances in skin science. This evaluation is a high tech analysis and comparison of your skin to the skin of 35,000 other individuals of similar age. This software was developed by Proctor & Gamble in cooperation with the most advanced medical imaging company in the business. In addition (if indicated) a gentle swab from inside your mouth can delineate you very own DNA. Combining this important skin science with years of physician based clinical experience allows the cosmetoceutical compounding of specific skin products and treatment especially for your individual biochemistry. This age management approach to skin is result oriented and offers the most advanced treatment to meet your goals.

Options and Specialty Treatments

Most of the time at our offices in the Baltimore area, this advanced skin care program is adequate for the needs of the majority of our patients. There are times, however, that other issues do arise involving more difficult patient goals. For these special situations, special approaches are necessary. For the more severe type of scarring from acne or other causes, actual CO2 laser treatment, minor medical microdermabrasion, or other surgical procedures may be necessary. The goal of our Baltimore area skin care specialists is to achieve exceptional results without the use of surgery. We strive to use non-ablative techniques whenever possible, techniques that do not violate or break the epidermal surface of the skin.

A helpful way to think about a non-ablative skin care program is to realize that it is customized treatment. The prescription depends on the condition of your skin and your expectations. Our Baltimore area skin care experts will determine what form of treatment is right for you.

Three Types of Skin Care Treatment

Type I

The most superficial is the epidermal and very superficial dermal levels. Damage includes vascularity issues (telangiectasia), pigmentation (melasia), age spots, sunspots, hormone damage, and pilosebaceous changes (acne, large pores, etc.)

Type II

Deeper dermal levels involve primarily aging consequences and scarring from the mid to deep dermis (wrinkles, deeper dark spots, and collagen loss with sagging)

Type III

The deepest level goes beyond the dermal defects to the support level of the subcutaneous fat and the musculoskeletal structures. These defects involve facial contour irregularities, deep nasolabial folds, sagging face structures, and migrating fat issue (jowls and neck)
